Au Revoir...

It's been exactly 91 hours, 42 minutes & 55 seconds - as I post this update - since Koushik's farewell party was supposed to start on Saturday evening. Disregarding, of course, that Sukanya & I were late by about 45 minutes because we were sitting & writing our message to Koushik in that very quarter of an hour at CCD (Cafe Coffee Day).

Just randomly, CCD's honey & oatmeal cookies are good...try em.

Anyway, the party. People had actually adhered to the formal dress code. However, can't say the same for sticking to only black, white & blue colours. Hehe. But actually, come to think of it...the girls were mostly in black & white - the original colours decided upon...the guys had branched out into blue more. So well, I suppose the dress code was pretty much followed. Hee.

Everyone had reached by the time we got there (obviously), so we got greeted by a whole load of high pitched yells, and of course - Koushik's standard "When did you get here? I didn't see you". LOL. I think guys are BORN blind. Apparently the previous night he'd dreamed we'd be coming...and that at some instance of time during the party...he'd borrow my cell to make an STD call. Hehe. Thankfully, that didn't happen...I have high enough bills without any help from others.

Quite a few people weren't in their best form - Pooja, Salomi, Aditi & Nasir if you want names. The first three were feeling sick (Pooja managed to miraculously recover halfway through)...Nasir was just tired. And he'd turned out awfully formal...poor guy.

Initially, I think the DJ must've been wondering why he'd been called...seeing as no one was even dancing. But eventually, Vineha, Radhika & Kushal as well as some others did start. Everyone else obviously had to join in after a bit. It was loads of fun. Usually, I end up not doing much at all when I've gotta dance, cos I tend to feel really conscious dancing in a crowd. It isn't like I can't...I just can't manage to let go most of the time. I'm not brilliant or anything...but I'm not completely graceless either. Anyway, this party can be added to the few times - which I can count on one hand - I actually kind of danced. I probably would've ended up hanging around not doing anything if it wasn't for Raghav...who bothered to come around & pull Sukanya & I in. The guy's mad...I tell you, but loads of fun. He wasn't great at dancing...but he was the most actively participating person out there. Like Salomi so aptly put it "I think he likes embarassing himself".

The Bombay Scottish lot had gone to the trouble of making this huge scrapbook for Koushik, filled with messages, photographs, contact details & so on...you know, something really worth treasuring. And we'd all contributed towards a really awesome Esprit watch, which Koushik of course absolutely refused to accept at first...claiming that all 25 of us had lost our brains.

The message Sukanya & I wrote to him generated a lot of unrest...hehe. I can't believe no one in the group never found out about the Sentiment Of Love thing. To those who don't know what it is, Sukanya had hunted for the meaning of our names on R World...LOL...& Koushik's name apparently means 'sentiment of love'. It was so hilarious back then...kinda stuck as his nickname after that. Anyway, I had to get back at him for calling me 'Itpeed (on the man)'...LOL. Reverse my name...& voila...you get 'Itpeed'.

I think the most emotional part by far was towards the end though...when everyone starting clicking pictures & taking their leave gradually, cos you really got to see how close the lot of them were. Sukanya, Nasir & I aren't really part of the group...seeing as we come from different schools & haven't come to know them all as well - we've only come to know them somewhat in college. I really liked that the lot of them were comfortable enough with each other to be able to hug & sling arms - even the guys & girls...however sappy it might sound. Was kinda feeling sad cos I don't have friends of that sort...well I do...but not that many. And I probably won't ever get to meet my school friends much...seeing as I studied in Riyadh most of my life. Some of my ex-classmates though, I think I'd be happier not meeting again.

Anyway, I think I should wrap this up now. Will not bore whoever is reading this much longer.

I'm going to miss you, 'Sentiment Of Love'...hope to see you sometime.
